Guidelines
At SMS Equipment, we are committed to investing in the communities in which we live and work. Our Community Investment Program provides the funding entities with the company's charitable contributions. The program approves and allocates funding for organizations and events in an equitable manner in communities where we operate.
Objectives:
- To support non-profit activities and events by providing financial assistance, product or in-kind contributions
- To contribute to registered Canadian charitable organizations with a focus on educational, community and health initiatives
- The charitable giving and volunteer efforts of our employees strengthen our communities. To show our appreciation for their efforts SMS Equipment supplements their community work and charitable giving and will support, sponsor and donate to individual SMS Equipment employees. This support shall be in the form of pledges and sponsorships directly related to a charitable event and organization.
Criteria and eligibility:
- Initiative has long term benefits for the community and offers donor recognition
- Encourages volunteerism and offer possible volunteer opportunities for SMS Equipment employees
- Offers partnership development opportunities
- Organization and its initiative is cost-effective
- Organization is able to effectively measure its programs
- Organization must be a registered charity or non-profit society
- Gaming event that raises funds for an eligible organization or initiative and is licensed by the appropriate provincial gaming authority
Aside from exceptional circumstances, SMS Equipment does not provide funding to the following:
- Political parties or candidates
- Religious organizations (except where they represent non-denominational community and social support services)
- Private schools
- Professional sports teams
- Service clubs and fraternal organizations
- Professional solicitors or third-party fundraising
- Private clubs funded through membership fees
- Individuals and/or individual pursuits
- Activities and events that take place outside of Canada (except where the activity assists people in a region that experienced a catastrophic event or natural disaster)
- Research
- Feasibility studies
- Debt-reduction campaigns
- Goodwill advertising
- Organizations focused on the advocacy of a particular social, religious, moral, political or economic point of view
- Memberships
